A year in Review

2019 was the best year ever! I was able to spend a lot of quality time with my family. The shop was extremely profitable, and we were able to make a huge impact in the community. I also kept my new years resolution and I am living a healthier lifestyle. That is what I would like to say about 2019, however quite the opposite was true. I was not able to spend a lot of quality time at home, for 2020 that is going to change. The shop almost broke even this year. Financially we struggled and road the up a down rollercoaster like any new business, however we have a lot going for us in 2020! We did raise some money for some local charities and were able to help some people out, but it was not enough. I did do some small things to help me live a healthier lifestyle, however I have a long way to go. It is safe to say this was one of the more challenging years I’ve ever had. So, as I reflect and evaluate on my year, I challenge you to do the same. This time when evaluating 2019, make notes on how you are going to improve and not go through the same things going forward in 2020.

I hate the word resolution, so these are my 2020 goals and soon to be accomplishments. I will spend more quality time with my family and away from the shop. We are already planning different road trips this year. I am going to make it a point to be home for dinner each night. American Tire and Automotive will be profitable this year! We’ve grown and learned so much this past year. We’ve adjusted to better serve our customers. We have a merger in place with a local area shop that has one of the best reputations in the area. We will also gain one of the best technicians in the area as well! American Tire and Automotive will have a lasting impact on the local community. This is two part. I opened ATA as part of an initiative to positively impact my local community and to change the reputation of the Automotive industry. A couple things we will be doing is a local initiative that is in the works currently called Wheels of Hope. This could potentially be life changing to the individuals that are part of it, more details to come! The second part of my impact was to change the Automotive industry reputation. Along with our current practice and just being honest about what we do, we are also going to introduce a technician mentorship program. For those of you that do not know, the Automotive repair industry has a huge shortage of quality, highly trained Automotive technicians. It’s a huge National problem, each year vehicles get more and more technologically advanced and more difficult to work on. This program will act as a hands-on internship for High School Seniors that are interested in the industry. They will work and train with ASE certified technicians and staff. There are so many opportunities in the automotive industry and it is time people know about it! More details to come. And lastly, I will live a healthier lifestyle. Meaning more exercise, more hockey, better eating, more time relaxing, more time with family, and more reading. So, what are your 2020 goals?
